If there’s one thing we know about trends is that they come and go, but one trend that has been consistent is the straw/woven bag. Few things feel as quintessentially summer as the go-to straw bag. Endlessly classic, woven bags have earned a spot on every summer shopping list—and with good reason. They’re as fit for a day at the park as they are for a trip to the office, and they’re as convenient as they’re smart. I mean, at this point, need I really say more?
We have seen them on most of the popular instagram bloggers like Mihlali Ndamase, Asiyami Gold and Lerato Kgamanyane. These content queens make us melt with envy for one of these little numbers, but as usual they are a bit tough to locate in this part of Africa.
One place you could find one is the thrift market, I bought mine in a thrift market along park street a couple of years ago for $4, alternatively you could follow facebook bidding pages, you’re likely to find one at a good price.
If you’d like a variety of colors, I recommend Patch Maoko eZimbabwe. They produce summer must haves, their bags are handstitched and produced right here in Zim and we’re totally swooning over them. To buy these must haves visit their page here.
